Bespoke Bookcase and Desk

One of our clients residing in London required a bespoke bookcase to span one wall, in order to accommodate a centrally placed flat screen; and house a selection of books; with further items to be stored in the lower cupboards, concealed from sight.  The high ceiling of this substantial property enabled us to design a specialised piece of bespoke furniture, of good height, with its own cornice, stopping just short of the ceiling in order to allow the original ceiling cornice to be seen to best effect.

The bookcases were embellished with contrasting satinwood, cross-banding to doors, edge of lower section and to the frieze; with the cornice breaking forward and mitred around the decorative pilasters.  The lower cabinet doors were hung on traditional brass drawn butt hinges, with the doors being fitted with quality brass cabinet locks, all sourced from a top quality Birmingham manufacturer.

A matching pedestal desk was also supplied to complement the bookcase, with hand dovetailed drawers and, as with all our handmade furniture, conveying the very best of English cabinet making.
